Leachate tanks are used in land reclamation projects. They are designed to hold contaminated ground water which is being extracted from the site. Commonly called leachate, this ‘water’ can be highly corrosive, toxic or acid etc according to whatever the site was being used for previously. The contents are then transferred to a tanker for removal to an appropriate waste facility for treatment and safe disposal.

Although a specialist application, in construction leachate tanks are very similar to steel oil storage tanks. They are built to order and customers can specify capacity – usually 50 or 100K Litres. Designs are either closed or open bunded to meet standard requirements for containment and protection of the environment. Other considerations include the fill and off-take flange couplings – again customers can choose – standard 4 inch or custom requirements. Most installations include ladders and gantries for service access.
