Net Zero might not sound too good; but it could be good for your Truckstop business!

For Truckstop operators of all sizes the drive to Net Zero presents real problems. From not knowing which fuel is going to be adopted by the industry (see our article on the Industry’s Betamax moment) to Truckstop storage and dispensing design issues, adding a new fuel to the forecourt isn’t as simple as it sounds.

Substantial capital investment may have to be made to secure long-term viability and profitability in this rapidly evolving and increasingly regulated industry. Pressures from public opinion and legislation will make the change at the pumps inevitable, so how do Truckstop owners navigate this transition?

The frontline problem in the short term is supplying two different types of fuel from installations set up to deliver one.

The advantage of taking on transitional fuels is their compatibility with existing diesel fuels enabling HVO and Biodiesel to be drop-in products to existing tanks.  This is of course terrific if all your customers are happy to pay the premium these fuels command, but this will not happen without a struggle.

To keep your customers coming in, just switching fuel into existing tanks is therefore not an option until the demand for the new fuels and acceptance of new price structures by haulage companies rises to a level that makes the switch financially viable and potentially more profitable for your business.

Happily, there are ways to make the switch over less painful and we have answers for your particular problem.

For over 50 years the fuelling industry has relied on industry leader OTS for smart solutions ranging from the design and installation of tanks and distribution equipment for full turnkey Truckstops to the management, inspection and treatment of stored fuels.

We can provide temporary drop-in tanks of any size, with their dispensing equipment, to meet the need for transitional fuels to be at the pumps alongside existing fuels during the indeterminate period of changeover. This will allow operators at a moderate cost to judge the speed and nature of the evolution of demand for alternative fuels while maintaining existing equipment and business models.

We are your go-to industry partner, always ready with practical solutions for your fuelling equipment supply and storage problems.
